The rooms at Hostal Mendieta are cozy and comfortable, with a flat-screen TV for entertainment and a private bathroom for convenience. I loved waking up to the city views from some of the rooms, it made me feel right at home.
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the showers in the private bathrooms. But hey, that's just my personal taste.

the beds were comfortable and the place was clean. the staff were friendly and attentive. the location, just behind the main strip, was closer to some budget-friendly restaurants. the breakfast, although simple with bread, jam, and coffee, was filling. it was a cheap and cheerful experience, and I got what I paid for. Cons: Can honestly say there wasn't anything not to like! 😊.

The breakfast at the hotel was absolutely delightful, with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. It was like being at a gourmet buffet, but without the overwhelming choices.
Limited sea views.

I had the best room I've had in Peru! The room at Hostal Mendieta was sparkling clean and modern, exceeding my expectations for a Peruvian hostel. The friendly family that runs the hostel made me feel safe and relaxed. Despite the sketchy-looking neighborhood, the interior of the building was new and well-maintained. The location was great, within walking distance of the main square but not noisy at night. The breakfast was simple but delicious, with bread, butter, jam, orange juice, and a choice of coffee. The shower was lovely and the beds were comfortable. I highly recommend this hostel.
Despite the positives, there were a few drawbacks. The area around the hostel could be a bit noisy, with cars honking frequently.

The hostel was sparkling clean and had a modern feel, surpassing the quality of an average Peruvian hostel. The friendly family running the place made us feel safe and relaxed. The beach, restaurants, and a local shop were all within a short walk, making everything easily accessible. The staff was always smiling and helpful, even accommodating an earlier breakfast for us.

Great location, just a short walk from the main area and away from the noise. the staff was amazing, going above and beyond to help us and even accommodating an early breakfast for us. the hotel was extremely clean and tidy, and the rooms were comfortable and budget-friendly. Breakfast was a nice touch, with a variety of options including fruit, bread, and scrambled eggs.
There was also some mold in the bathrooms, which could have been better maintained. It would have been a great addition if they utilized their roof as a terrace, as it would have provided a nice space to relax and enjoy the views.

Homely Atmosphere: The friendly staff at the front desk made me feel right at home, as if I was staying with family. They were always there to assist me and even helped me plan my day's activities.
Noisy Surroundings: Street food vendors and their lively customers made it a bit difficult to get a peaceful night's rest.
